The 1960's
In this website we will be answering many questions. However the main question is what is the difference between the youth of the 1960’s and the youth of our generation? In the 1960’s, major events shaped the youth’s perspective of the American culture. The youth of the 60’s actively made a stance on social, political, and civil issues. For example, a fifteen year-old African American girl refused to give up her seat on a public bus after listening to the inspiring words of Martin Luther King Jr. From sit-ins to riots of thousands, the youth of the 1960’s wasn’t going to take no for answer.
Now, let us take a look at our youth today. Although the youth today thinks they are involved, they only participate in events that benefit themselves. Compared to the youth of the 1960’s, our generation is the laziest, self-centered generation to ever be born. Today’s version of a riot would consist of going on Facebook and creating a group to argue their opinions. Some of the largest gatherings that take place with America’s youth today is waiting in line for the release for the newest Iphone or waiting in line at 3am for black Friday shopping. Our youth still has large gatherings like the 1960’s, but for completely different reasons.
